Beyond that heat of the dusty plains, away from the scorching torture of the blazing sun, lies the majestic and beautiful hill of Darjeeling, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas and bounded by vibrant greenery.Darjeeling has many places that will interest all visitors from adventure seekers to casul vacationer. Darjeeling has lot to offer to those who like to spend a memorable time in the Queen of hills. Some of the unique places like the HMI which is the First Mountaineering Institute of India,to the Worlds smallest and highest Race Course.The Himalayan Zoo where you can see the rarest animals like Red Panda and Snow Leopard. (Red Pandas can also be seen in wild in Darjeeling trekking routes) ,where you can enjoy the joyride in the Darjeeling Himalayan railway which is a World heritage, this joy ride where you can enjoy the ride against the back drop of the World's third highest peak Mt Kanchenjunga, this joy ride will take you to some of the highest railway stations in Asia. Happy valley tea garden which produces  the World's most expensive and exotically flavored tea.Darjeeling also offers one of the best trekking routes in the World as trekking sports is said to have first originated in India at Darjeeling.

FLORA & FAUNA

The forests in and around Darjeeling are endowed with rich biodiversity and exotic flora and fauna. Over four thousand species of flowering plants, three hundred varieties of ferns and innumerable variety of flowerless plants, mosses, algae, fungi, birches and exotic orchids can be sighted here. The jungles of oak, chestnut, cherry, maple, birch, alder, magnolia, buck-landis, pyrus and conifers are a safe haven for a rich and diverse variety of animals. Red Panda can be sighted in the jungles between Gairibas and Molley, on the way to Sandakphu. Barking deer, wild boar, the Himalayan bear, monkeys, wild cats, leopards, jackals and foxes etc. also inhabit the region. Darjeeling is also  home to about six hundred species of beautiful birds. A large number of migratory birds on their way to the plains, also visit the hills.
